POLICY FOR AI IN CLASSROOMS AND TEACHING

A policy belongs
in the classroom.

A policy in a handbook is easy to ignore. PACT turns it into clear, stage-specific guidance where students and teachers actually need it.

An operational framework

Stage-level AI permissions tied to the skill being assessed.

Implementation resources

Shared policy, level language, disclosure, process-journal guidance, and adoption materials.

A classroom product

The same rules carried into assignment setup, student guidance, process entries, and disclosure.

OUR COMMITMENTS

The learning
stays human.

Transparency

Declared AI use within the stated limits is not treated as wrongdoing.

Human authorship

People remain accountable for what they submit, including errors, fabricated sources, and bias.

Skill protection

AI may support learning. It must not replace the skill being taught or assessed.

Human judgment

Grades, integrity decisions, and authorship questions remain human decisions.

  • Studies the gap between written rules and classroom reality.
BOUNDARIES & GOVERNANCE

Clear about
the limitations.

Self-report is not proof.

PACT makes honest AI use legible. Students can still misreport their process. Journals support teacher judgment and never replace it.

School choices remain local.

Approved tools, retention periods, department stages, and local procedures vary. The policy’s bracketed fields make those decisions explicit.

Change should be visible.

The policy calls for annual review with students, teachers, and school leadership. The current release and its history remain visible on the policy page. Suggestions and research questions can be shared through the contact form.

Later speech features will need testing across languages, accents, and noisy classrooms. Written entries remain an equal alternative.

“PACT is designed to evolve in public: from classroom use, student and teacher feedback, and evidence—not from detector scores or hidden rules.”
